As a parent, 32 year FAFSA expert and college consultant, here are important tips to prepare your child for the FAFSA 25/26 school year. Keep in mind these tips are to help your child secure financial aid stress-free so they can do what they do best - focus on school.

Early Application

This can never be mentioned enough: filing your financial aid application early and as soon as you can is crucial to your FAFSA process. This allows you time to fix any errors that may be found and still receive your aid on time for your academic year to start.

Federal Pell Grant Qualification

The Federal Pell Grant has now been expanded to more students due to the change in factors, which now includes other information like family size and federal poverty guidelines. Remember that even if you don't qualify for the maximum Pell Grant, you may still be eligible for a Pell Grant based on other information.

School List

This year's FAFSA has expanded the school list from 10 to 20 colleges, enabling students to seek financial aid for all their dream colleges. It's crucial to utilize this update to apply for financial aid at all the colleges you wish to attend, even if you haven't submitted applications to them yet.
